Procedural modeling of plant ecosystems maximizing vegetation cover

چکیده
Abstract Vegetation plays a major role in the realistic display of outdoor scenes. However, manual plant placement can be tedious. For this reason paper presents new proposal field procedural modeling natural This method creates ecosystems that maximizes covered space by optimizing an objective function subject to series constraints defined system inequalities. includes environment taking into account characteristics terrain and species involved. Once inequality has been defined, solution will obtained tries maximize radius projected area trees therefore extension vegetation cover on ground. The technique eliminates do not achieve minimum growth radius, simulating typical competitive process nature. Results show good performance high visual quality proposed technique. use kind optimization techniques could used solve other problems fields application.

A Stable Modeling of Large Plant Ecosystems
The focus of this paper is finding a balance of the plant density and the plant spatial distribution in visual models of large plant ecosystems. This is achieved by simulating plant competitions for resources that is sensitive to many constants and initial conditions, and can easily become unstable causing some individuals to die and the others to grow exponentially. We have found that a negati...
متن کاملPlutonium and americium behaviour in soil-vegetation cover of natural and semi-natural ecosystems
The results of investigations of transuranic elements { H , , M 0 P u and 2 4 'Am) behaviour in the soil-vegetation cover of natural and semi-natural ecosystems in the regions of Belarus contaminated as a result of Chernobyl acci dent have been summarised. The parameters of plutonium and americium vertical migration have been estimated for typical soil varieties; the radionuclides accumulation...
متن کاملAssessment of mountainous ecosystems in Central Asia by using remote sensing based vegetation cover fractions
Mountainous regions are especially vulnerable to climate and land use change. For a monitoring of subtle changes detailed and continuous land cover information is necessary. Therefore vegetation cover fractions are derived for the Naryn river catchment in Kyrgyzstan using a remote sensing multi-scale approach. First a very high resolution QuickBird image is classified into discrete classes usin...
متن کاملModeling the Boundaries of Plant Ecotones of Mountain Ecosystems
The ecological second-order phase transition model has been used to describe height-dependent changes in the species composition of mountain forest ecosystems. Forest inventory data on the distribution of various tree species in the Sayan Mountains (south Middle Siberia) are in good agreement with the model proposed in this study. The model was used to estimate critical heights for different al...
متن کاملMonitoring Sparse Perennial Vegetation Cover
In Australia, remotely sensed Landsat TM data is routinely used for mapping and monitoring the change in extent of woody perennial vegetation cover providing information for conservation, land management and for modelling carbon flux and water use. For a variety of reasons including land cover definitions and sensor spectral limitations, studies have tended to focus on reporting changes in land...
